Redlord (/redlord/ [Translation Unavailable]) is a subtropical Town located in Kemembakēàg County, Dāmêvr Kingdom, within the Sylvanian Empire.

The name Redlord is derived from the Sylvin language, as Redlord was founded by Gaerthel Hasley, who was culturaly Sylvin.

Climate

Redlord has a yearly average temperature of 14°C (57°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 27°C (80°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 2°C (35°F). Redlord receives an average of 265 cm/y (104 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Redlord covers an area of nearly 4 km2 (1 mi2), and an average elevation of 448 m (1469 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Redlord was founded in time immemorial, reportedly some time durring the early 8th century, by Gaerthel Hasley. The establishment of the new community went well, with no major obsticles durring construction.

Redlord was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the early 8th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Redlord is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature delicute timber framework hidden behind layer upon layer of finly ground plaster bleached to an almost glossy white sheen, with green clay tiled roofs and decorative brass-leafed trim. Even the smallest, poorest looking structures appear to be expencive thanks to the extreem elegence of the organic shapes and paterns going into their lofty, spire-y, vagly gothic designs. The more well off folks live in identicle homes, save for even shiner trim and a more whimsical appearance to their structures flowing forms.

Redlord is buildings are arranged arround a network of broad flagstone streets which form a diagonal shaped grid, where each square verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller square has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town has a defencive wall made from large clay bricks. The wall is constructed to the exact specifications of millitary fortifications, but the nature of its clay brick construction leaves it vulnerable to even outdated siege equipment. That said, the town is well defended against anything short of an army. Redlord's brittle defences has sufferd soem light damage, reducing its function a little in some spots, but could almsot certainly preform as expected... Though some of the worse spots could lead to the loss of defenders lives if attackers identified the weaknesses ahead of time.

Redlord is not quite well. Something happened here, perhapse recently, perhapse long ago. Whatever it was, it settled into the very soul of the town like a festering wound. The people go about their day well enough, but there’s a tention in the air you can cut with a knife. You get the terrible feeling that whatever it was, the wound it left will simply never heal. This town is as a necropolice.

Civic Infrastructure

Redlord has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Redlord has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Redlord's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Redlord possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Town. Redlord's grid is powered by a direct leyline tap.

Redlord has a first rate hospital which caters to anyone in need of long term medical care.

Redlord has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Redlord has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

One or more crime bosses have a powerful influence within Redlord. They may control crime within the community itself, or they may use it simply as a safe haven from which to direct their minions elsewhere. Local law enforcement may know all about them, but lack the strength to confront them and their paid or intimidated henchmen.

Redlord's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is known primarily for its use of abstraction and simplicity. Clean lines, right angles, and primary colors characterized this aesthetic and art movement expressed via architecture and paintings. Its design ethos allows only primary colors and non-colors, only squares and rectangles, only straight and horizontal or vertical lines. Vertical and horizontal lines are positioned in layers or planes that do not intersect, thereby allowing each element to exist independently and unobstructed by other elements. These seemingly impossible principals for an architectural style coalesces into structures which most experts find hard to put into words. It is not that their geometry is impossible, but rather the style's attempt at producing works only describable visually was most successful..

The Carrion Moth near Redlord are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Redlord's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in winter and involves line dance to channel Enchantment energies of tier 1 via guttural bellowing.
